Farm News
News and happenins from around Sweet Apple Acres. Newest up top. Applejack writes most of em but Apple Bloom posts when Applejack is too wore out to. Scroll on down, theres a lot of farm history in here now.
Goodbye 2013

Applejack said i could stay up til midnight to see the new year so im writin this real late. 2013 was a real good year. I got better at farmin, our website got popular, and Diamond Tiara still aint got nothin nice to say but who cares.
Happy new year everypony!! See you in 2014!
Merry Christmas From All Of Us

Hard to believe another year is near done. We had the whole family in for hearths warming and the barn was warm and full and loud the way I like it.
Thank you to every single one of yall who ordered from us this year. We started this little website not knowin if anypony would even use it and now look. Folks from all over Equestria eatin our apples. It means the world to a farm family.
Merry Christmas and a happy hearths warming. We will see yall in the new year.
Christmas Cider And Pies On Sale

Got our holiday cider and pies ready for the hearths warming rush. If you want a Granny Smith pie on yer table for the holiday you best order now, she only bakes so many and they go fast.
We ship in a special padded crate this time of year so nothin freezes or breaks on the way. Order by the 18th to get it in time.
It Snowed!!!

IT SNOWED last night and it is SO pretty out there. The whole orchard is white. I wanted to play in it all day but Applejack made me come in and do my homework. So unfair.
Anyway the farm stand is closed for the real cold months but we still got cider and preserves and stuff so order that. Granny says the cold makes the cider taste better i dont know if thats true.
Thanksgivin And Givin Thanks

We sat the whole family down for a big supper and counted our blessings. Good crop this year, healthy family, a roof that dont leak much. Cant ask for more than that.
Granny made four pies. Four. And there wasnt a crumb left by the end of the night. That woman can bake.
Last Of The Late Apples

We bucked the last of the late season trees this week. These late apples are smaller but they are sweet as anythin, real good for keepin through the winter.
Once these are gone thats the apples done til spring. Get em while you can. After this its cider, preserves and pie til the trees come back.
Rakin Leaves Forever

There is SO many leaves on the ground right now and guess who has to rake em. Me. I raked a pile as big as me and then Big Mac walked through it on accident and i had to do it again. I almost cried.
Applejack says leaf rakin builds character too. Everything builds character apparently.
Nightmare Night On The Farm

Happy nightmare night everypony! Me and Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle went around the whole orchard tellin spooky stories. Big Mac jumped out and scared us and i screamed so loud Granny woke up.
We dont got pumpkins really cause we are a apple farm so i carved a face in a big apple. It looked dumb but it was funny.
One Whole Year Of This Website

Apple Bloom pointed out to me that this here website is a year old now. A whole year. We been sellin to folks all over for a year and it still tickles me every time an order comes in from some town I never even been to.
Thank yall for stickin with us. Heres to another year of honest apples.
Second Cider Season On The Books

Threw our cider season hoedown again and it was even bigger than last year. Seems word got around. We had ponies come all the way from Ponyville proper and even a few from out of town who found us on the website.
Danced til my hooves hurt. Granny outlasted us all, that mare can move.
Harvest Time Again

Well the leaves are turnin and the apples are ripe so you know what that means. Im back out in the orchard before sunup buckin trees. My legs remember the work even when the rest of me forgets.
This crop come in real nice. Get yer fall orders in early, we always sell out quick this time of year.
First Press Of The Season

First cider press of the season went off without a hitch Saturday mornin. That first cup of fresh cider after a long summer is somethin special. Crisp and cold and sweet.
We press every Saturday now through the fall. You know the drill by now. Get here early.
Back To School Boo

School started back up which means no more helpin on the farm all day. Now i gotta do chores before AND after school. Applejack says it builds character. I says it builds tiredness.
Miss Cheerilee is my teacher again this year at least. She bought a whole bushel from us last week and told the class about our website which was real nice of her.
Cider Season Is Comin

Pulled the press out of the barn and gave it a good cleanin. Cider season is just about on us. Did a little test batch and let me tell you, it tasted like fall in a cup.
We start pressin fresh every Saturday startin end of the month. Get here early, it goes fast as ever.
Last Week Of Summer

School starts next week so im tryin to help on the farm as much as i can before then. I bucked a whole little tree by MYSELF this week. Applejack watched and she said i did real good and i felt about ten feet tall.
Gonna miss farmin all day. Stupid school.
Hot Hot Hot

Hottest week of the summer. Even the chickens are layin in the shade. We been waterin the young trees twice a day to keep em from dryin out.
Fluttershy come by to check on the bees we keep for pollinatin. She says they are happy and healthy which is good news for next years crop.
Watchin The Sky

Been a dry stretch and the young trees are thirsty. Me and Big Mac been haulin water out to em twice a day and watchin the sky hopin for a good rain. A farmer spends a lot of his life lookin up wonderin about the weather.
Pegasus team says they will get us some rain by the weekend. I sure hope theyre right.
Summer Is The Best

No school all summer means i get to help on the farm every single day and i LOVE it. Im gettin real good at buckin the low branches. Applejack says maybe next year i can do a whole tree by myself.
Me and the crusaders been sellin little snack bags of apples down by the road too. We made almost ten bits! Were savin up.
The Trees Are Loaded

The summer trees are just loaded this year. Branches hangin low with green apples gettin bigger every day. Looks like its gonna be a real good fall harvest if the weather holds.
Got green cookin apples available now for them that likes to bake in the summer. Tart and firm, perfect for a pie.
Lemonade And Apple Stand

Me and Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle set up a lemonade and apple stand down by the road. We made a sign and everything. We sold almost all of it! A couple ponies even said they read about our farm on the website.
We are gonna do it every weekend this summer. Come buy some, its only a few bits.
Summer Sun Celebration

Summer sun celebration was a real nice time. We set up a stand at the festival and sold cider and caramel apples til we run clean out. Whole town was out enjoyin the longest day.
Thank you to everypony who stopped by the Sweet Apple Acres stand. We will be back next year, bigger.
Summer Trees Lookin Good

Midsummer and the trees are healthy and green and full of little apples gettin bigger by the day. If the rest of the summer is kind we are lookin at a real fine harvest come fall.
Nothin much to sell right now but green cookin apples and strawberries, but you wait. Fall is gonna be somethin.
I Almost Got My Cutie Mark Maybe

So i was helpin buck a tree real good and for a second i thought maybe THIS is what gives me my cutie mark, farmin! But nope. Still a blank flank. Diamond Tiara is gonna laugh.
Applejack says it comes when it comes and not to rush it. Easy for her to say she got hers forever ago.
The Bees Are Busy

Fluttershy come out to tend the bee hives and she says theyre the healthiest shes seen em. Healthy bees means good pollination means a good crop. Folks dont think about the bees but a apple farm dont work without em.
We even got a little honey to sell this year on account of how well the hives are doin. Ask about it with yer order.
Strawberries Between The Rows

Folks dont always know we grow more than apples. We got a patch of strawberries between the orchard rows comin ripe right now and they are sweet as candy.
Limited amount, first come first serve. Add a basket to yer apple order if you want some.
Climbin Trees

I climbed all the way to the top of the big old apple tree by the barn and i could see the whole farm. It was AMAZING. Then Applejack saw me and made me come down and gave me a whole lecture about fallin.
Worth it though. You can see real far up there.
Blossoms Everywhere

If you aint never seen an apple orchard in full bloom you are missin one of the prettiest sights in all Equestria. The whole farm is covered in white and pink flowers and the smell is somethin else.
Every one of these blossoms is a apple come fall, weather permittin. The bees are workin overtime. So am I.
Zap Apple Jam Is Back

The zap apples bloomed and we did the harvest the old family way, and that means zap apple jam is back in stock. This is the only time of year you can get it and once its gone its gone til next year.
If you never had it, you are missin out. It is the single best thing this farm makes and thats sayin somethin. Limited jars. Dont wait.
Granny Says The Zap Apples Are Comin

Granny been watchin the zap apple tree real close. She says when the timberwolves howl and the leaves turn funny colors thats how you know the zap apples are about to bloom. Its a whole Apple family secret how we harvest em.
I aint allowed to say how we do it. Family secret. But zap apple jam will be back soon and its the best thing you ever tasted i promise.
First Blossoms Openin

First apple blossoms opened up this week. Just a few so far but in a week or two the whole orchard will be white with em. It is my favorite time of year on the farm. Everything feels full of promise.
Every flower is a apple waitin to happen. Heres hopin the frost stays away and they all make it.
Plantin New Trees

Put in a whole new row of young apple trees this week. They wont give fruit for a few years yet but thats how a orchard keeps goin. You plant trees you wont harvest for the family that comes after.
Granny planted half the trees on this farm before I was even born. Figure its my turn to do some plantin of my own.
Helpin Plant Trees

Applejack let me help plant the new trees this year and i planted a whole one by myself! She said in a few years it will give apples and i can say i planted it. I named it Bloomer. After me.
Im gonna watch Bloomer grow up. Thats my tree now.
Spring Has Sprung

The snow is gone and the ground is soft and the trees are wakin up. Spring is here and theres about a thousand things to do. Big Mac and me been out every mornin gettin the orchard ready for the growin season.
Farm stand opens back up for the season next week. Come on by, we missed yall over the winter.
Farm Stand Reopens

The farm stand is officially open again for the season! We got stored apples, cider, preserves, Grannys baked goods, and once spring really gets goin we will have all the fresh stuff too.
Sure is good to have the gate open and customers comin down the road again. We missed yall over the long winter.
Mud Mud Mud

Everything is mud. The snow melted and now its just mud everywhere. I got mud up to my knees helpin Big Mac move the cider barrels. Granny made me hose off outside before she let me in the house.
Applejack says mud means spring is comin and the trees will wake up soon. I just think its messy.
Almost Spring

The snow is FINALLY meltin and i can almost see the grass again. Applejack says soon the trees will wake up and we will be busy busy busy. I cant wait. Winter is boring on a farm.
Granny says dont rush it, enjoy the rest while you got it. But im a filly, restin is boring too!
Sap Is Runnin

Walked the rows with Big Mac to check on the trees after the long winter. Good news, the sap is startin to run which means they made it through the cold just fine. Wont be long now before the buds come.
We lost a couple of the real old trees to the frost but thats farmin. We will put new ones in come plantin time.
Plannin The Season

Spent the week with Granny goin over the farm records, figurin out what to plant and where this year. Granny keeps every season wrote down goin back further than I been alive. Theres a whole history of this farm in them books.
We decided to put in more of the Granny Greens this year since yall cant seem to get enough of em for yer pies.
Hearts And Hooves Day

Happy hearts and hooves day! Me and Granny spent the afternoon makin cards for the whole family. Mine had apples on em obviously. I gave Big Mac one and he said Eeyup which is how he says thank you.
We are sellin little heart shaped boxes of caramel apples for the holiday. Get one for somepony you love.
Deep Winter Quiet

Aint much happens on a apple farm in deep winter. The trees are sleepin under the snow and the farm is real quiet. Its the only time of year a farmer gets to slow down a little.
We been spendin the cold days doin repairs in the barn and goin through the seed catalogs. Granny tells her stories. Apple Bloom does her homework, mostly.
Stuck Inside

Too cold to do much outside so we been stuck in the house. Granny told us the story about how she founded Ponyville for like the hundredth time but i dont mind it. Shes a good storyteller even if i heard em all.
Cant wait for spring. Did i mention that already? Well its still true.
Snowed In

We got SO much snow that school was canceled and we couldnt hardly open the barn door. Best day ever. Me and Applejack made a snowpony as big as Big Mac.
Dont worry if you ordered somethin, the mail pony is just runnin slow with all the snow. Your apples are comin i promise.
Barn Repairs In The Cold

Winter is when a farmer catches up on all the fixin that piled up durin the busy months. Been out in the barn most days mendin tools, oilin the cider press, and shorin up where the snow load gets heavy.
Cold work but it needs doin. Come spring everything will be ready to go when the trees wake up.
Happy New Year From The Farm

Happy new year yall! 2012 was a real good year for Sweet Apple Acres. We started this website, met a whole lot of new customers, and brought in one of the best harvests in years.
Heres hopin 2013 treats the farm just as kind. We will keep growin the honest apples if you keep eatin em. Deal?
Best Christmas Present

I got the BEST present for hearths warming, my very own little buckin boots so i can help in the orchard for real next season! Theyre red just like Applejacks. I wore em around the house all day.
Big Mac got me a little wooden apple he carved himself too. I love it. Best family ever.
Hearths Warming Eve

The whole family is under one roof for hearths warming and the house is warm and smells like cinnamon and apple. Granny got the fire goin and is tellin the old stories like she does every year.
However you celebrate this time of year, we hope its warm and full of family. From all of us at Sweet Apple Acres, hearths warming blessins to yall.
My First Real Post (Applejack Is Tired)

Hi everypony its Apple Bloom! Applejack is real tired from gettin everything ready for the winter so she said i could write the farm news today. This is my first real one. Granny helped me with the spellin.
Theres not much farm news in the winter cause the trees are sleepin. But we still got cider and preserves and Grannys pies for sale so go order some! Okay bye!
Winter Stock Is Up

Fresh apples are about done for the year but we stocked the farm stand full for the winter. Cider, apple butter, preserves, dried apples, and Grannys pies and pastries. Plenty to get you through the cold months.
Order online and we will ship it right to yer door. Stay warm out there.
Thankful For A Good Harvest

We brought the last of the harvest in just before the cold set in and the barn is full to the rafters. A full barn at thanksgivin is about the best feelin a farmer can have.
We are thankful for the good crop, for the family, and this year for all of yall who found our little website and bought our apples. That means somethin to us.
Dried Apples For The Pantry

Been dryin apples all week to put up for the winter. Dried apple slices keep for ages and theyre real good for snackin or tossin in oatmeal on a cold mornin. An old Apple family way of makin the harvest last.
Bags of dried apples are up on the farm stand now. Healthier than candy and just as sweet.
Puttin Up Preserves

Granny been teachin Apple Bloom how to put up apple preserves and apple butter for the winter. Theres a whole art to it that goes back generations. Apple Bloom is a quick learner when she aint distracted.
Jars of Grannys apple butter and preserves are up on the farm stand now. They keep all winter and theres nothin better on a warm biscuit.
Last Of The Caramel Apples

Nightmare night is over which means caramel apple season is windin down. We sold more of em this year than ever, must be the website. Get the last few before we put the caramel pot away til next fall.
Thank you to everypony who came out for a caramel apple this season. They will be back next year, sweet as ever.
Bats In The Orchard

Had a little trouble this week. A swarm of fruit bats got into the south orchard and chewed up a good number of apples before we could do anythin about it. Aint nothin you can do but shake it off and keep goin.
Fluttershy come out and helped us move the bats somewhere they wont bother the crop. She set em up their own little sanctuary. Only Fluttershy.
Y'all Sure Found Us Fast

Me and Big Mac were lookin over the farm this mornin and I told him I cant hardly believe how many orders been comin in since Apple Bloom put us on the computer. Folks from towns I never even heard of, wantin our apples.
I was nervous about this whole website business if Im honest. Didnt think a farm like ours needed one. But I was wrong and Apple Bloom was right. Dont tell her I said that.
I Run The Whole Website Now Kinda

Applejack said i could help with the website more since shes so busy so now i feel real official. I check it every day after school to make sure everything works. I built it so i know how all of it goes together.
If you ever see a post with lots of exclamation points thats probably me. Applejack dont use as many. Okay bye, gotta go feed the chickens!
Wore Plumb Out (Apple Bloom Might Post Here Now)

Well folks I gotta be honest with yall. Buckin the whole orchard, pressin the cider, fillin every order, bakin with Granny AND keepin up this here website is about more than one pony can do. Im wore plumb out.
So me and Apple Bloom had a talk. She already built this whole website so she knows her way around it better than me anyhow. From now on she might pop in and post somethin here on the farm news when I cant get to it. Be nice to her, shes still little.
Dont yall worry though, the apples aint goin nowhere. We will always have time to fill yer orders. Just might be Apple Bloom tellin you about it instead of me sometimes. Thanks for understandin.
Cider Season Hoedown Was A Hoot

What a night! The whole of Ponyville came out to the barn for the cider season hoedown. We danced til the moon was high and drank more cider than I care to admit. Pinkie Pie brought the music and Granny showed everypony how to do the old apple stomp.
If you missed it, dont you fret, we do it every year. Mark yer calendar for next fall. Bring yer dancin hooves.
Cider Run Out Again

Pressed a big batch of fresh cider Saturday mornin and it was gone by noon. Gone! Folks lined up clear down the road. I keep tellin yall to get here early and you keep provin me right.
We will press more next Saturday. And the one after. All season long. But get here early, I aint kiddin.
Apple Family Reunion

Had the whole Apple family in from all over Equestria this weekend. Apples from Manehattan, Apples from Appleloosa, Apples I aint never even met before. Granny was happier than I seen her in years.
We took a big family picture out front of the barn. Aint that somethin. Three generations of Apples and every one of em knows how to buck a tree.
Fixed Up The Old Barn

Spent the week patchin up the barn before the weather turns. Replaced some boards, fixed the big door that been stickin since spring, and gave the whole thing a fresh coat of red. She looks near new.
A barn is the heart of a farm. You take care of the barn, the barn takes care of you. Thats somethin Granny always says.
Harvest Is In Full Swing

The trees are heavy and the apples are ripe, which means its buckin season here at Sweet Apple Acres. Im out in the orchard before the sun even thinks about comin up. By the time most folks are eatin breakfast I already got a dozen baskets filled.
This is the best lookin crop we had in a good while. Crisp, sweet, and red as a barn. Get yer orders in early cause these are gonna go quick.
Thats the whole farm news archive. Come sign the guestbook or say howdy in the chatbox.
